New Website Design
Westlake Global Compounds
Project Overview
WGC reached out to the Ammunition team to help transform their digital ecosystem. The first step was to rebuild their website and make a more robust content hub.
WGC is a leading compound company around the world. Local teams combine personal attention with the expertise, geographical footprint, and financial resources of a global leader – all to benefit their customers.

Research & Discovery
What are the primary objectives?
Educate customers about the company, its products and services, and the Global Compounds brand. Support lead generation by engaging with potential customers and directing them to the sales form.
What problems are we solving?
Provide WGC with a more updated website presence
Build credibility with customers with a sophisticated website
Ease of navigation
Easily find what they’re looking for (Contact Us, News, & Products)
What are the current pain points?
Too many clicks to get to desired content
Not enough interactivity
Navigation, ease of getting to contact forms
Standardization of styling
What audiences do we need to consider?
Plant & Process Engineering
These folks work at the plant level and translate R&D’s specifications into processes that the plant can follow to produce the desired products.
Procurement
This group is responsible for purchasing all materials & services for a company, driven by price and service levels.
Research & Development
This group is focused on the development of new products, specifying what materials and processes are used to produce and commercialize such items.
Quality Control
These folks work both at the plant and HQ level and are responsible for ensuring all products meet all relevant regulations and quality standards.
Equipment Manufacturer
These are third-party organizations that provide equipment (e.g. tooling, molds, extruders) that plants use to produce the products, following the processes that R&D has specified.
The audiences outlined here span across multiple disciplines with needs for specialized information. The new website that we create needs to serve as a reliable source with resources that are easy to locate.
Site Map
Multiple rounds of client feedback and discussion helped create this site map. Not only does this diagram outline the website structure but it also helps visualize the type and quantity of pages that will make up the new website.
Template Guide
Based on the site map a template guide was created. This diagram helped us plan out how many wireframes we would be creating by identifying which pages could share the same template. This created a more efficient process for both the design and development teams.
Wireframes
The Process
All wireframes were designed and prototyped for both desktop and mobile in Figma. Each sprint concluded with a client presentation for reactions and feedback. Luckily, each sprint presentation delivered exactly what the client was hoping for and all wireframes were approved after round one. A designer’s dream!
Sprint 1
Home page & solutions template
Sprint 2
Services page, Terms & Conditions, text based page, resource download, & Get in Touch form
Sprint 3
Commitment page, company history page, business page, & team page
Sprint 4
News & Events overview page, case studies page, News & Events & case study detail page, & featured product catalog
Designs
The Process
When the design phase kicked off I worked closely with the team looking for inspiration for design direction. A lot of inspiration was pulled from the form and organization of the periodic table of elements. Since WGC specializes in chemical compounds we thought this was an appropriate motif.
