SUNDAY:

The Creative Day

The Sunday Studios is my new small business and passion project where I explore merchandise, apparel design and production, and print making. Sunday has notoriously been the day I set aside for myself to work on my creative projects, so it only makes sense that the brand I create would pull inspiration from my creative day.

Project Overview:

In the early stages of the pandemic when lockdown orders had just been put in to place I decided to fill my time learning about print making. As I learned more about it and started having more ideas I saw selling potential and was getting a lot of positive feedback and encouragement. I created this small business as a way to share my work and continue exploring.

Once I decided to open The Sunday Studios I had a long list of things to get done ahead of me. From working with manufacturers on approving designs for custom tags, to burning my own screens for screen printing, to printing shirts, totes, and art prints, and designing and creating the packaging. Every detail has been thought out and double checked. I’ve had a lot of fun building this brand and am very excited to see where I can take it!

These apparel tags are cut out of mid-weight chip board and the edges colored with orange paint to reinforce the color palette.

The logo was cut out of a matte adhesive vinyl and a stamp of the launch date added underneath.

Marketing.

When I decided I was ready to launch the website I took time to think about how I wanted to introduce the brand and build interest before the official opening. I decided to self promote the the brand for 6 weeks leading up to the launch on my personal social media account as well as The Sunday Studios account. Teasing detailed shots of the products every Sunday built up enough interest that the account’s followers increased by 500% before the launch date.

Website Launch Countdown:

Aside from the detail shots being shared every Sunday I wanted to think of a way to do an official countdown to the launch.

Launch No. 1:

The first group of products, and the website, launched on September 5, 2021.

Launch 1 features three products: a t shirt, tote bag, and a paper print. All items are designed, made and packaged in house.

The shirt and tote bag are screen printed with an original design made with custom mixed ink colors. The paper print is also an original design and is made using the lino cut print process.
